Film Production 1.0 (Editing PT 1)

Was fairly pleased with the footage which I previously shot, Ok not every shot had I planned turned out perfect and the lighting in someshots was alot darker than I had planned but overal fairly satasfied with the results in colour aswell as in black and white which I tried by desaturating the colous.

So I got on with the editing and in not long time at all I realised inwhich I had too much footage for a one minuite film and basically I had to cut alot of scenes as there would be too much happening, I had the start scene and the end scene finalised. It was just incorporating events which lead to that so I played around with the footage. I tried sticking to the storyboard as much as possible but I could'nt get it looking right mainly because I could'nt get it right from the shot with him getting out of bed to falling over the bottle so I decided with editing the footage as best as possible to skip the bottle shot and all the shots filmed in the shower and have the character move straight to the kitchen and carry on the rest of the film from there, and I incorporated the tripping over the bottle scene on the way back which worked well, thankfully I recordered some extra footage.

Was satisfied with the edited footage which took its time and speeded some shots up and slowed some down but overaly fairly pleased with the results, would have like to have included all the footage but Id like to potentially add that footage at a later date or create a different 1 minuite video with him instead of entering kitchen entering shower room.

Film Production 0.9 (Day Of Filming)

Day of filming went pretty well, There was a few problems encounted though, obviously some rooms including the bedroom and the shower are were really cramped so trying to fit a tripod into tight spaces was really difficult and some planned shots had to be slighly ajusted for example the first shot of the character getting out of the bed was done at an angle and not from an shot straight ahead as The tripod would'nt fit. Also the same happened with the footage recordered in the shower room and of cause had to be cautious what with the obvious water electricity, however I was glad the camera even fit in there.

Obviuosly a big problem was the continuity effect and making sure random items did'nt turn up in situations inwhich they wer'nt previously which we struggled with during the 2 minuite film we did however I learned from that, which was a task in itself especially with the amount of bottles and cans I was using but overal it went smoothly.

I would have liked to have taken a light out with me as that would have added better contrast when coming to the cut and Looking back at the footage on the cam some of the scenes especially the latter ones are very dark, however with that getting a cam and light could have been potentially more hazadous.

Overall was pleased with the filming and got some nice footage in a decent amount of time, some shots required more that one take but generally filming went well.

Just a few shots of cams in action

Film Production 0.8 (Costume)

For my film I only needed to persue one Costume for the character. I originally planned this outfit for my original concept film however I believe this outfit will work for my new film as It could pass as either casual clothes the character went out in the night before relating to the storyline or clothes he plans to wear to a job interview for example. I want to lead that aspect of the story to the viewers imagination and what they believed, until the real ending is revealed.

Another reason why I choose black is I noticed inwhich alot of my walls are white and im planning on creating a good contrast as Im planning to edit the footage into a black and white film with elements of colour and this makes a perfect outfit. The use of the tie added is because i've been playing with the potential idea of having the tie coloured, and black would be easy to create the effect with. I got the idea from the intro to Marco's Kitchen Burnout intro, which unfortunatly I cant find a video for but basically it as the same effect but used the head tie things, whatever there called.

Film Production 0.7 (Setting)

For my setting as I have mentioned I am going to be filming in my Student accomidation. I wanted to add to the setting by making my room as untidy as possible.
Heres a view photos of my first setting in the film which will be the bedroom in which will host the beggingin of the film and the ending.

The second setting in the clip is going to be my shower room which I plan to host the Shving scene. As you can already notice there is a potential hazad here what with water and elecrtic and you can see its not the biggest amount of space so fitting the camera in could be tricky.

The third setting is going to be the corridor room, which I sgoing to be straight forward as its gonna host me walking down the corridor inwhich to reach the kitchen.

Fourth and final setting inwhich my video will include is the kitchen area which is the biggest room available with plenty of room to perform a range of different shots and hope to inlude some nice long shots within this room. This setting shall host the scene inwhich I cut myself making a sandwich.

Film Production 0.6

Shot 1 - Going to be a closeup shot of a digital clock tuning to 7am

Shot 2 - An overview of the character lying on bed and on bottles, with him picking up a bottle and drinking abit out of it I also plan for his hand to move away from the screen to go straight into the next shot

Shot 3 - Want to go into a close up of my hand as I attempt to reach for my glasses however I pick up a half full bottle and move it back towards me

Shot 4 - Go into a mid range view from the side as I spill my drink over my face, I want this shot to be done in slow motion to increase the tension.

Shot 5 - Shot from behind of the charcter getting out of bed

Shot 6 - Close up of bottle on the ground as the character trips over the bottle.

Shot 7 - Shot of the character getting up then realising what the time is and dashes into the bathroom.

Shot 8 - Shot from behind as the chracter stares into the mirror, potentially ticky shot to film with the reflection of the camera.

Shot 9 - Closeup of the Shaver as my hand apraches to pick it up.

Shot 10 - Mid range shot of me shaving

Shot 11 - cuts to a closeup sink of blood splattering on it

Shot 12 - Cuts to the kitchen as I open up the fridge and pick out some food

Shot 13 - Shot of me drinking and spilling it over me.

Shot 14 - Slow motion of me picking out knife and attemoting to cut some cheese and end up cutting myself.

Shot 15 - run to find a plaster and recieve a message

Shot 16 - Shot of me receiving a message.

shot 17 - Final shot me speaking to camera

Film Production 0.5

Continuing with the theme, heres a view ideas for potential scenes ive come up with which I could show in my one minuite film, some i've taken over from my previous ideas.

- Waking up in bed with loads of bottles to demonstate the charcter as had a late night / still hungover.

- A shot of the character falling out of bed

- The charcter searching for his glasses and mistakes them for a drink and spills it all over himself

- Shot of him falling over an item such as a bottle

- Been sick in the toilet / sink

- using shaver and cutting himself with blood spilling on the sink

- Falling in shower with with it then turning on him

- Walking into door

- Walking down corridor into kitchen

- Opening fridge and picking up some food

- Spilling food/drink onto floor

- Getting hand stuck in Toaster

- Spilling drink all over him

- Cuts himself while cutting cheese

- Burning his breakfeast.

Ive decided that the ending is going to be a shot of the character receiving a message on his mobile phone informing him that they've extended the deadline of his last project for a week to which he speaks into the character informing the viewers, the idea is that he's actually filming himself for his project.

Film Production 0.4

Started doing some test footage trying out some techniques for the first part of the film and started testing different angles, However looking back over the footage I wasn't to keen, not with the shots I took but more to the fact for my character I was playing as I was going to be acting in my film basically as I was the only one with some basic acting skills. However my film was intended to be a serious affair about someone struggling from the loss of his murdered girlfriend but It was hard to act serious and often at times turned more into a comedy, which I wasn't pursuing So I had a rethink about my film.

Basically I got the idea that I shall continue a similar story line however add a few elements, such as I decided to do a bit of filming in the kitchen But basically I was going to do a short i min film about my morning, to them theme of been hung over and having a project deadline in for tomorrow, which is a usual scenario for me however add a twist at the end which i've been thinking about So i shall come up with a new storyboard
