Character Design 0.3
I decided to choose 4 of The Words We were given, and did a Brainstorm for each as to help me with potential Ideas on where I can Develeop and start my Character.
Myers Briggs Personality Profiling
During this sessions we went though a serious of personality tests we were given into finding out about ourselves and about relationships in the the industry and how personlaity clashes can effect this
I started Off by filling in a Strengths and Weakness sheet in which for my strengths my top results were Loyal,Generous and Forgiving and and my top 3 Weaknesses were Leadership,Wise and Decisive, and from these quick results u can gain abit of knowledge about yourself and certain rolls which would suite you in the Industry, for example a role in the indusrty that does not require so much of a leadershp role requiring decisive decision making, and on the other hand been Loyal and Forgivind couls suggest I'd be more apropiate working in a team roll as I'm easy to ge on with and so on and would not cause conflict. Of cause these Skills can be developed further but I'd be interested to find out say To improved your leadership strengths, would other skills become weaknesses as you would have to be a more stern figure.
I then went onto to take the actual Myers Briggs Test in where I had To selct what I believed best suited me and My results came up ENFP and I agree a fair amount with the definition of my results which basically imply I'm enthusiastic and Imaginitve which I agree as im quite passionate about the work I produce and I'm always drawing in my spare time trying to improve my skills and I like to use my creativity to come up with interesting designs and this adopts away from Work as for example I like to be creative with food and experiment.
From taking on this infomation From the options I would be best suited for A Teamworker role as one of my allowable weaknesses is I'm Indesisive. And The strengths which would make be more suitable are I'm cooperative,Listens,Perceptive and Diplomatice, in which from doing the tests and learning abit about my personality I have learned this.

Character Design 0.2
Character Design 0.1
For the main brief I have decided to to Character Design as this is the area that interests me most,as I really enjoyed the previous mini brief in which I had to create and develop character, and this is an area in Industry that really apeals to me, also alot of my previous reseach including Dan Mumford and Ralph Steadman specialise in this area.
I have been given a list of words : Robot / Dog / Cloud / Fire / Fish / Cello / Umbrella / Snow / Tuba / Tomato in which I have to create a portfolio of concept art and model sheets depicting a Character that is inspired and influenced by your starting words.

The Digital Industries Sectors
For this Task we were asked to find two industry leaders who practice globally and describe their international activities
For the first company I decided to do Disney Interactive Studios, who of couse belong to the Disney brand, They need no introduction, there one of, if not the biggest global company around, they started off as a small animation project in the mid 1920's and are now one of the most well known brand names around, and have gone on to develop there business into the Theme Park Indusrty setting up parks in many locations globally and have now most recently entered into the Video games industy named Disney Interactive Studios. The studio is based in Glendale, California, however has internal development studios around the world including locations in UK, Japan and Latin America. Disney Interactive Studios self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Potential carear oportunities that the Company offer include Technology,Gaming,Creative and Business roles.
The second company I have choosen to do is Activision Blizzard studios, or so they are named now after Activision merged with Vivendi Games in July 2008. Actision were founded in 1979 and since then have developed popular games such as Call Of Duty and Guitar Hero. There headquaters are based in Calofnia, however they have many development studios and Sales Offices globally from locations including UK,France,Canada,India and many more. Potential oportunities they offer include games testers,3D modelling,Art Director,2D artists,Animators and so on.

Ralph Steadman
I first got to now about Ralph Steadman when I went to the library and was looking for influence for a project on my last course, and ever since I picked up one of his book I have been a huge admirer of his work, Reasons why I really like his work he creates very synful characters and imagery and I like the way he expresses emotion in his characters, and the way he is not afraid to go beyond the boundaries for example Having Mouths flying off, which is linked to alot of dark humour he uses, which I really like. I like the way alot of his work have messages behind, even though sometimes looking at his work it apears completly random but he tells the reasons behind all of his works, So yeh I just like the way he experiments and I like the way none of his drawings are perfect as that adds to his style,as he goes for the kind of messy inky style, and I just love some of his ideas he comes up and the characters he comes up with such as the Exploding Volcano image which I could not find unfortunatly,But yeh I just love the way he' comes up with some crazy imaginitive characters for exaple combining 2 completly contrasting elements to create breathtaking characters, So yeh I could defatly take influences from Ralph for the character design brief, as I'd like to get pen on paper and come up with some crazy character illusrtations and experiment. Check out his amazing work.

2012
Just finished off watching this movie, The scene I wanted to show with them escaping in the plane from LA has had the embedded code removed so I cant show it here but if u want to check it out the link is here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZxBYItj2sM
The reason I wanted to show that scene is cause its not just my Favorite scene from the film, but the special effects are simply jawdropping, I cant go into deatail as im not an expert on this subject but yeh there incredible, and I watched the film not at the cinema lets say and even then could tell how good the effects were, so I'd definatly recomend watching this film at the cinema. Overal I really enjoyed the film and was a great watch so If your interested in making it in film/effects or just want to watch a good film to watch check it out.
The 13 Sectors
For this task we had to pick 2 professional websites from a list of the top companys in the UK and then 1 independently found website.
http://www.playfish.com/
I chose playfish as It was about the only name on the list I was familiar with, and having viewing the website I was really impressed. They advertise themself as a social gaming indusry and target social networks such as Facebook,Myspace Bebo and so on which is a very wide market, hence the amout of people using these social sites. And have now ventured onto software such as the ITouch, They say they installed over 150 million games which is been played by millions, and have development studios in London, San Francisco, Beijing and Tromso, Norway which is deeply impressing as they are marketing themselves both in Europe and The World.
http://mindcandy.com/
I chose the second site more out of complete randomness as like I said i was not familiar with many of the companies listed, but after checking the site out, I thought it would be interesting to check out a similar company and see the similarities and differences between the 2,both sites claim to be the leaders in social games, however Mindcandy specialises there target market to a more younger market, wheras Playfish have developed a huge variety of games, Mind Candy have just stuck to 1 more developed and bigger game called Moshi Monsters where u can adopt a virtual monster and look after him, Both companys tend to focus on the social gaming aspect which is becoming more popular recently, however I believe Moshi Monster is only playable through the PC, however is available globally.
http://www.indiegames.com/
This is the Independantly found website I chose, I wanted to keep on a game theme so choose this website, it is a guide to the very best Indie games around globally, where independant games companies upload there work to be reviewed and preveiwed and this website offers downloads, info and so on

Photography Experiment
Character Ideas
Fist step of my animation project entitled move, I did a bit of potential charcter designs inwhich I could use, I just drew the images of the top of my head with no directions or influences,I liked the drawings however I soon realised that these designs would be too complicated to model in 3D maya, especially as this would be my first time using 3D maya, however I decided to keep the images as they could be used into another brief.
About Me Poster
This was a mini Brief we were given in which we were told to create a A4 poster about ourselves and our interests, however we were forbidden from using text, we were given the freedom to experiment with different types of digitally manipulated images. For my poster I decided to take a more graphical aproach cause im more influenced from this type of media, heres a list of references
Xbox 360 - Took a picure and drew other it in Illustrator, with this been one of my main hobbies, I placed this as more as a focus point and enlarged the image in comparison
Ipod - Took picture and drew other it, placed in the center as its the one item that would describe me best as listening to music is my bigest influence/hobbie
Guitar - Again followed a similar procedure to previous 2, reasons I placed this as one of the main images which displays about me most, Is to emphasise my interest in music, and I also enjoy playing music aswell as listening.
With The 3 main images completed I then decided to experiment with all kinds of images I could find from my Flat, I searched through my Clothing,Magazines,Stickers,Beer Mats,Patches and so on to try create an eye catching poster.
Spades Bottom Left - This imagery came from my Belt which I scanned in and edited the image on photoshop. I really like as It displays a double purpose, First im a keen Card player and secondly I'm a big fan of this kind of clothing range and I love the use of colours.
Band Logo Patch Top Left - This is a Chimaira band logo patch which I have on my bag, which I scanned in, reasons I used it is first I really like the band and its one of my favorite band logo's and is such a simple design, yet I really like it and as u know Im a big fan of band artwork.
Spam T-shirt Illustration (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - Scanned in from a t-shirt I have, reasons I used this image is im a big fan of movies, and Terminator 1 happens to be one of my favorite movies, other reasons Im a big fan of illustrations/cartoons and I really like the spam clothing range and have a few other designs including Clint Eastwood and Jason (Friday 13).
Vans Stickers (fingerprint & Snake) - Scanned in from a bunch of stickers I received at College, reasons I used these is Im a big fan of Vans, especially there shoe range and the vans warped tour
Paint The Stars t-shirt (far right) - scanned the image from my t-shirt, reasons I really like the image and like alot of the clothing companys work
After receiving feedback from my class, I think i sucseeded in the main part of the brief as they could easily tell from the Poster, infomation about me and what my interests were, and they commented it was eye catching with plenty happening, however they suggested I should have experimented with different colours and arangements of the images and suggested I should get fill up the empty white space. Overall I quite enjoyed this mini brief and learnt i need to put more development into my ideas and come up with several instead of just one to develop which I can take into the main brief

The Trapdoor
One of my favorite programmes whilst I was growing Up and still love It today, Im a big fan of Claymation and I'm a massive fan Of The Trapdoor, Reasons I love it so much cause I love the Character Modeling, although you cant tell from just 1 video but they have come up with many unique and synful characters each with different atributes, and all the mini episodes follow the similar storyline creature escapes from the Trapdoor and causes trouble, such a simple idea but is made so well. The animations also feature dark humour which I love and is just a brilliant watch, Id recommend watching as many of the episodes, its simply brilliant and an example of what kids TV used to be like and Shud be brought back !

Protest The Hero - Blindfolds Aside
Just thought I'd put this video up in relation to the Blog I did about the band artwork, Unfortunatly Youtube has withdrwn the embedded code for all their music videos from that album, so I'll put this up taken from there previous album titled Kezia, Enjoy :D
http://www.protestthehero.com
Artwork Influence
This is one of my favorite examples of band artwork, Its from a band called Protest The Hero and the album is called Fortress, I could not recomend this band enougth so check them out, anyway Im hear to write about the artwork, which I simply love, at first look it just looks like a bunch of unrealted images, But you have to read and listen to the lyrics to gather a understanding, as the album follows a fantasy theme which u can see relates to the artwork with good use of colour, note the use of a purple background and light colour tones represents this well,I also love the textures used. The main focus on the artwork is goddess Flidais (of Irish mythology) from what I am led to believe from which most of the lyrics are written about as the charcter takes center part, I am lead to believe she is ruler of the woods and wild animals hence the use of mystic like creatures used on the artwork, aswell as reading about hunting hene the apropiate use of imagery through the use of arrow heads and u cud also say the hunting relates to the use of animals. As u can see theres a UFO at the top, im not sure how that fits into the concept story but i know it refers to there song Seqouia Throne which the band have released a video, so check it out on youtube.
So yeh I really like the imagery used and The way the art relates to the lyrics and tells a story and I like the way alot of thought has been put in, as theres to many art from similar artist that use gore and blood and dont put much thought in, I like some but at times it just gets repetitive. I like the way its eyecatching and even if I would not of herd about the band Its something that I would definatly pick up in a shop.
Also to add from doing a bit of research into this and checking out who designed the artwork, it was a studio called sons of nero who I checked out and I was really impressed with there work and I plan to write abit about them in one of my creative Indusrties Blog.

Baf Game Festival Review
I Recently Visited The BAF Game 09 Festival, I went not really knowing what to expect if anything I had visualized A showcase of games for you to try out from new to old with the developers there giving talks on the games, So when I arrived I was not really expecting to be sat in a theatre room in a kind of Conference atmosphere listening to several companies give in depth talks about a wide variety of topics including about the business, the way the business is run, rolls in the company , development of the game and promoting themselves and the Products within the company, Although this was not entirely what I was expecting I got a lot of information out of it and even possible career roles I might take.
My favourite talk off the day was Amanita Design, who was the company I’d like to work most for. They are a group of good friends from Eastern Europe who showed off their game Machinarium, The reason why this was my favourite as I really loved the artwork involved in game and The sketchbook work which included thousands of sketches from development of ideas to storylines, which is something I’m really keen on and enjoy getting my ideas on paper and just letting myself and ideas loose. Other thing I was really appealed to me was the fact that they did a lot of their work at home and communicated with each other from there. I really like this Business model as its more a relaxed atmosphere, while getting the work done at same time, I also noticed that there not directly a Games company and have done work for some big companies such as Nike which appeals to me as I’d like to vary my work a bit and not just design art for Video Games.
Over the day I learned some useful information from other company’s talks, both personal information and information about the Industry such as the way different companies are setup such as Sony UK who have a boss and departments specialising in each area and are very professional in the way they present and the way the business is run, and Team 17 on the other hand who don’t really have a major boss, and are each designated certain roles however they help out one another and all put their input into development of the game and ideas they have. I also like the fact the Team 17 have set hours as one thing I have learnt after listening to several company’s is that there is times where they may have to work very long shifts and It was mentioned that in one case they had to perform around 22 hour shift and had to sleep at work and carry on the next day, Which to me is really off-putting but it’s something to be expected with the demanding deadlines.
It was also good to hear that they are some company’s out there such as Blitz who have come up with Blitz 1up which is a programme to help smaller teams get their game to market. In addition to advice and studio resources, and also offers help with funding, legal guidance and marketing. Which I think is a great Idea as it benefits both parties involved and is an approach I’d defiantly consider in getting my work out there.

Dan Mumford
One of my biggest Influences in what I want to acheive today has been the work and Illustrtions of dan Mumford, as u can tell Im also hugely influenced by Music and anything from band artwork to Music videos, and he has designed many illustrations whether it be album artwork to T-shirt Merchandise, He has worked with some of my Favorite bands including Protest The Hero, A Day To Remember,Gallows,Set Your Goals,The Black Dahlia Murder and so the list is endless.I also purchased one of the Black Dahlia Murder t-shirts he designed at one of there shows. Aside from band artwork he was also did some work For the ford fiesta campaign and has done some illustations for Digital Arts Magazines.
Reasons why I like his work his I love the dark atmosphere he creats within his images and I love the use of colours he uses and love the amount of detail he goes into in his illustartions and I like the way he just keep up coming with amazing ideas and the way he varys his designs and his wild imagination and the charaters he designs in his work and the emotion he shows in them, and yeh im just a massive fan of his work.
So yeh I can take influence from much of his work as I am very keen in going onto doing something similar whether that be designing band artwork, though I am also keen on designing charctets/environments for video games/films and so on so I can take huge influence from his work and can take it onto projects such as recently I had to design a Character, inwhich I took influence of from his work in designing a kinda of dark and creepy charcter and I used kind of interesting colour scheme such as greens and purples. So yeh I'd reccomend his work to everyone its brilliant and would love to achieve his standard of work.so yeh check out his work at

Chesterfield College - Text Experimrent
Some more experimenting I did, this was part of the project where I had to design a Movie Titles and for this I was experimenting with text, To create this what I did was I got some thick paint and just writ Scream on some tiles outside and then I took a picture and played around the image on Photoshop using Red effects to represent blood and yeh was pleased with the result. However I was made to clean up the mess :(
Chesterfield College Project Experiment
Just some experimenting I did as part of a project which I quited liked,I'm a big fan off kind of gothic/horror sculptures and models and have collected alot which I have at home so yeh just took a picture of it and just played around with the image in Photoshop and really like this effect, also what I did was I took some images of kind of textures such as Rusty Buildings,Fencing and so and played around with effects on Photoshop,so yeh this was used as a experiment during the development of my major project
Chesterfield College - Anti Fur Poster
Here is a poster I had to design for Anti Fur, for this project I decided to just do a simple poster and It was quite useful as My dog was still a puppy therefor I just took as many pictures trying to get him in a really sad pose and yeh I finally got one I was really happy with so just uploaded it and played with the arrangement and just added the the slogan and logo. This project was part of a competition the college wanted us to enter however for some reason the college did not go through submitting the work
Chesterfield College - Book Design
Here is Some work I had to do on my previous Course, For This Project I had to Redesign a Childrens Book from The Logo to image and for this I choose Grizzly Tales, as I was a big fan of Both The books and The TV programme. How I acheived My result was I took a close up image of a plant, as the book was called Freaks Of Nature, then put it on photoshop and edited it then printed it out, I then drew over it in Marker Pen to kinda give it more of a cartoon image, then I cut out Two holes for the eyes, and designed two eyes which I placed under and scanned it in and that was the image completed. The Title was designed from using Inks and getting really messy, once I was happy with 1 I waited for it to dry and scanned it in and drew over it in Illustrator, there was also a design with the title Freaks Of Nature on but that file seems to have got lost aswell as a design for the back cover but I have them in my portfolio folder.
